Curb Appeal Residential Improvement Program

The elimination of slum and blight within the Community Redevelopment Area is the top priority of the Delray Beach CRA. Many of our grant programs help defray the cost of property improvements as an incentive for owners to participate in the redevelopment process.

In an effort to extend these incentives to single-family residential structures, the Curb Appeal Residential Improvement Program was created in 2007. The program is limited to homes in the Northwest and Southwest Neighborhoods of the CRA District.

Curb Appeal grants cover the cost of minor exterior property improvements, which can improve the aesthetics of a residential dwelling and increase property value. Funding is available at two levels—full grants cover 100% of project costs (up to $10,000 per structure), while matching grants cover 50% of project costs (up to $10,000 per structure). Some income eligibility criteria apply. Eligible costs include:

  • Exterior Painting & Pressure Cleaning

  • Replace Missing or Rotten Siding

  • Landscaping & Irrigation

  • Driveway Repair

  • New House Numbers

  • Mailbox Replacement

The Curb Appeal program is administered by the Neighborhood Services Division of the City of Delray Beach. For more information or to request an application, please email City Rehabilitation Specialist Dennis Thompson or call him at (561) 243-7280. A more detailed program description and list of eligibility requirements can be found in the Curb Appeal Information Brochure. Application Deadline: June 15, 2008!

Grants are reviewed and awarded by the Board of Commissioners of the Delray Beach CRA. Please allow up to ten (10) weeks for application processing and project bids. Funding is budgeted on an annual basis and is approved on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority given to homes located on SW 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Avenues.
