Call to artists issued for artistic sculpture
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the design of a sculpture or artistic element for the public plaza currently under construction at the intersection of West Atlantic and SW 5th Avenues. The CRA is seeking an art component that will further Delray’s rich artistic traditions while reflecting the history and cultural heritage of Historic Fifth Avenue, an area originally settled by African Americans. The component should also compliment the design elements in the plaza’s overall design. The CRA has allocated $15,000 toward the art feature.
Qualified individual artists and artistic teams are invited to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and preference will be given to artists who reside in Palm Beach County. Applications and proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee as well as the Public Arts Advisory Board, who will make recommendations to the CRA Board. The final selection will be made by the CRA Board. Qualifications must be submitted to the CRA office by 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd. To download a copy of the RFQ or to request more information, visit the CRA website at www.delraycra.org or contact the CRA office at (561) 276-8640. |
