Project Description: This multi-phase project calls for street improvements on West Atlantic Avenue for the blocks between 1st and 12th Avenues. Improvements include the installation of paver brick sidewalks, decorative street lamps, and landscaping. The project is divided into four phases, each being partially funded by federal grants. The first two phases, the blocks between 1st and 6th Avenues, were completed first. The third phase, 6th through 12th Avenues, was done in conjunction with the RRR project by FDOT, and was completed in December 2009. The CRA budgeted $1.5 million during the 2008/2009 fiscal year for the third and fourth phases of the project. The Downtown Plan Master also calls for the widening of the landscape strips in the median to 26 feet. Because this would necessitate the removal of turn lanes, this aspect of the plan requires further analysis and review.
