Project Description: The Downtown Master Plan incorporated plans that were already under way to relocate the library from its previous location on SE 4th Avenue to the 100 block of West Atlantic Avenue. The new library measures more than 48,000 square feet in size, with a collection capacity of 250,000 volumes. The building is also equipped with reading areas, computer stations, reference rooms, meeting spaces, an auditorium and a café. The new library was completed in 2005.

Parking is provided in a 3-story garage to the south that is shared with the South County Courthouse, located on the west side of SW 2nd Avenue. In 2009, the courthouse completed a renovation project that nearly doubled its size, adding approximately 75,000 square feet of new building area.
